Drivers using the SR 56 and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard intersection should expect one more daytime restriction Friday. The work is limited, but the location is busy enough that a closed turn lane can slow traffic beyond the immediate work area.
FDOT lists the right-turn lane from eastbound SR 56 to northbound Bruce B. Downs as closed Friday, October 30, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Right turns remain available from the right through lane. No detour is posted.
Scheduled conditions from FDOT District 7; weather or field conditions may change the work.
The night right-lane restrictions previously scheduled at the intersection ran through Thursday night. Friday’s confirmed item is the daytime turn-lane closure. Drivers should not assume every orange barrel means the road is closed; the intersection remains open.
At I-75 Exit 279, FDOT is widening the southbound ramp to CR 54 to create two left-turn lanes toward eastbound CR 54. The $1.7 million project began October 5 and is expected to finish in spring 2027. FDOT currently lists no closure for the ramp.
These are planning windows, not live congestion measurements.
Friday evening also brings events at Center Ice, Main Event and KRATE. Those activities do not create an official road closure, but they can add turning and parking traffic near the SR 54, SR 56 and I-75 commercial corridors.
Saturday night will place more pedestrians in residential neighborhoods for Halloween. Drivers should reduce speed after sunset and watch for children near parked vehicles and subdivision entrances. This is a safety concern, not a prediction of congestion.
The graphic is a planning checklist, not a live traffic map.
FDOT’s schedule can change because of weather or field conditions. FL511 remains the best source for crashes, unexpected closures and current speeds. The useful takeaway for Friday is simple: the roads remain open, but one important turn movement has less capacity during the day.
