Pasco County public meetings this week include BCC today and Planning on Thursday
WESLEY CHAPEL, FL — Pasco County residents who want to follow local government decisions have two public meetings to watch this week: a Board of County Commissioners meeting today and a Planning meeting on Thursday.
Pasco County listed a Board of County Commissioners meeting for Tuesday, October 6, at 10 a.m. in Dade City.
The county also listed a Planning meeting for Thursday, October 8, at 1:30 p.m. in Dade City, with a Pasco 2050 workshop to follow.
For Wesley Chapel residents, these meetings matter because county government decisions often shape roads, development, land use, public services and long-range planning across unincorporated Pasco County.
This week’s county meetings
- Tuesday, October 6, 10 a.m. — Board of County Commissioners, Dade City
- Thursday, October 8, 1:30 p.m. — Planning, Dade City
- Thursday, October 8 — Pasco 2050 workshop to follow the Planning meeting
Pasco County says meeting dates and times are subject to change and will be posted on MyPasco.net.
How residents can watch
Pasco County says meetings are open to the public, streamed online and broadcast live on Pasco Television.
Residents can watch through the county website, the Pasco County YouTube channel, Spectrum Channel 643 and Pasco Television, according to the county’s October public meeting schedule.
How public comment works
Residents may participate in public comment in person by addressing the board from the podium inside the boardroom.
For virtual public comment, Pasco County says residents must preregister by completing the county’s public comment form or by calling Customer Service at 727-847-2411 no later than 4 p.m. the day before the meeting.
The county’s agendas and minutes page says virtual participants must log into the meeting 15 minutes before the meeting starts, using the link provided after registration.
Each virtual participant is generally limited to three minutes for comments unless additional time is approved under the board’s rules.
Why Wesley Chapel should pay attention
Wesley Chapel is not an incorporated city, so many major public decisions affecting the area flow through Pasco County government.
That includes planning and development decisions, long-range growth policy, transportation-related discussions and public service priorities. Even when a meeting is held in Dade City or New Port Richey, the decisions can still affect Wesley Chapel neighborhoods, businesses and commuters.
The Pasco 2050 workshop is especially relevant because the county’s long-range comprehensive planning process is meant to guide how Pasco grows in the future.
What residents can do now
- Check the official agenda before the meeting.
- Watch the meeting live if the topic affects your neighborhood.
- Register by the deadline if you want to make virtual public comment.
- Attend in person if you miss the virtual comment deadline.
- Follow Pasco 2050 materials if you are interested in long-term growth and planning.
