WESLEY CHAPEL, FL - Pasco County residents still have several October public meetings to watch as county business continues through the month.

The county's October public meeting and hearing schedule lists a Board of County Commissioners meeting for Tuesday, October 20, at 10 a.m. in New Port Richey, and a Planning meeting for Thursday, October 22, at 1:30 p.m. in New Port Richey. The county notes that a Pasco 2050 workshop is scheduled to follow the October 22 Planning meeting.

A previously listed BCC workshop for Tuesday, October 13, at 9 a.m. in New Port Richey is marked canceled.

Meetings are open to the public and are streamed online and broadcast on Pasco Television, unless otherwise noted by the county.

Residents who want to participate in the public comment section have two routes. For virtual participation, the county says residents must pre-register by completing a public comment form or by calling Customer Service at 727-847-2411 no later than 4 p.m. the day before the meeting. For in-person participation, residents can address the board from the podium inside the boardroom.

The county also says residents may email comments and supporting materials to pcadmin@mypasco.net. Emailed comments are sent to board members, but the county says they are not read aloud at meetings and are not included as part of the official meeting record unless authorized by the board.

For Wesley Chapel residents, these meetings matter because the area is unincorporated. There is no City of Wesley Chapel. Many local decisions involving growth, roads, planning, services, taxes and public policy run through Pasco County rather than a city hall.

That makes the county schedule more than background government housekeeping. It is one of the main places where residents can track decisions that eventually affect daily life in Wesley Chapel.
