The free annual event at Wesley Chapel District Park will bring together plants, gardening experts, family activities, educational exhibits and local vendors on Saturday, October 3.
WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. — One of Pasco County’s largest gardening events returns to Wesley Chapel this weekend as the Gardening 365 Festival & Plant Sale celebrates its 10th year.
The free festival will be held Saturday, October 3, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Wesley Chapel District Park, 7727 Boyette Road. The event is organized by UF/IFAS Extension Pasco County and its Master Gardener Volunteers and will take place rain or shine.
This year’s theme, “A Decade in Bloom,” marks the festival’s 10th anniversary.
More Than a Plant Sale
Visitors will be able to shop from vendors offering plants, gardening supplies, yard art, décor and other products while also meeting Master Gardener Volunteers, community partners and gardening experts.
The festival will feature seminars covering topics including fruit trees, herbs, pollinators, vegetable gardening, cacti and fire ecology.
Organizers are also planning a walk-through butterfly experience, garden décor vendors, food and drinks, a silent auction, ladybug sales and a Touch-A-Truck area.
Activities for Families
Gardening 365 is designed to include more than experienced gardeners.
A Kids Zone, educational booths and hands-on activities for children are part of the scheduled programming, giving families an opportunity to combine an outdoor Saturday activity with gardening and environmental education.
The butterfly walk-through experience is also expected to be one of the event’s family-oriented attractions.
Learn From Local Gardening Experts
For residents interested in improving their yards or growing plants successfully in Florida, the festival provides direct access to UF/IFAS Extension specialists and Master Gardener Volunteers.
Florida’s heat, seasonal rainfall, sandy soils and local ecosystems can make gardening different from other parts of the country, and the event will include information focused on Florida-Friendly gardening practices and local growing conditions.
A separate rain barrel workshop is also scheduled during the festival from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Participants will learn how to build, install and use a rain barrel and will take home the barrel they build. Unlike the main festival, that workshop requires paid registration.
