From yarn to chess, New River Library offers ways to connect and learn
Thursday's gathering brings yarn enthusiasts together, while students can register for separate beginner and experienced-player chess sessions next week.
A shared project or a chessboard can be a starting point for meeting neighbors. New River Branch Library in Wesley Chapel has scheduled programs for people who want to exchange ideas, learn and spend time in the community.
Yarn for a Cause
Yarn for a Cause is scheduled for Thursday, October 22, from 6 to 7 p.m. in Study Room C. The library describes it as a weekly gathering where yarn enthusiasts discuss projects and share tips and suggestions.
Two chess sessions for students
On Wednesday, October 28, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., the library will host its intermediate and advanced chess session. It is intended for students in grades 4 through 12 who have experience with the game and want to improve their strategy.
The beginner session follows from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in Study Room C. It is intended for students learning chess. Both sessions will be led by Rick McKnight, whom the library identifies as a master-rated chess coach.
