Residents may bring up to four tires, but the location closest to Wesley Chapel ends service Friday, October 30.

Wesley Chapel residents who still have old tires in the garage, behind a shed or in the yard have only a few days left to use Pasco County’s temporary disposal fee waiver. The official program runs from October 1 through November 1, 2026, but the facility calendars matter: November 1 falls on a Sunday, when all three participating locations are closed.

In practice, the last day to use the service in Land O’ Lakes is Friday, October 30, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Residents using the Dade City or Spring Hill facilities may drop off tires through Saturday, October 31, from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The program is for Pasco County residents. Each resident may dispose of up to four used tires, no larger than 36 inches in diameter, without paying the regular disposal fee. Rims may remain attached, but tires must be transported separately from all other trash or debris.

Where residents can take the tires

The most convenient location for many Wesley Chapel residents is the Land O’ Lakes Recycling Drop-off, at 6801 Wisteria Loop, Land O’ Lakes. During the program, it is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Another option on the east side of the county is the East Pasco Transfer Station, at 9626 Handcart Road, Dade City. It is open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The third location is West Pasco Resource Recovery, at 14606 Hays Road, Spring Hill, with the same Monday-through-Saturday hours.

What residents may bring

The waiver covers up to four used residential tires per resident, provided each tire is no more than 36 inches in diameter. The county allows rims to remain attached. However, the tires must be separated from furniture, bagged garbage, construction debris or any other load.

This is not a curbside collection service. Pasco County will not pick up the tires at a resident’s home; residents must transport them to one of the facilities or contact the private trash hauler that serves their address.

The county requires proof of residency for residential drop-off services and does not accept waste from outside Pasco County. At a facility with a scale house, drivers should tell staff they are carrying tires so they can receive the correct directions.

Why tires are part of the dengue response

Pasco County connected the initiative to the local dengue emergency. Tires left outdoors can collect rainwater inside their walls, creating a protected place where mosquitoes can breed.

Removing these containers does not replace other prevention measures, but it eliminates a common source of standing water. The benefit is twofold: residents temporarily avoid the disposal fee and remove a possible breeding site near homes and neighbors.

What happens after the program

After the waiver ends, the regular fee schedule applies again. The county’s trash information page lists car and pickup truck tires at $2 each at the East and West Pasco facilities, subject to facility limits and conditions. Larger tires have different fees.

Residents planning to use the free program should therefore not rely only on the November 1 end date. For Wesley Chapel, Friday is the final day in Land O’ Lakes; Saturday is the final option at the facilities that operate on weekends.
