Candy Crawl Returns to The Shops at Wiregrass Sunday After Weather-Related Postponement

Free candy, Halloween costumes, games, live entertainment and a special market-style gathering will bring families to Wesley Chapel on October 18.

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL — October 17, 2026. Halloween is arriving a little early at The Shops at Wiregrass, where families will have an opportunity to enjoy trick-or-treating, costumes, games and entertainment without waiting until October 31.

The shopping destination will host its rescheduled Candy Crawl on Sunday, October 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., along Paseo Drive.

Originally planned for October 10, the event was postponed because of inclement weather. Its new date gives local families another opportunity to enjoy an afternoon of Halloween activities, many of them offered free of charge.

The celebration brings together local businesses, community organizations and family-focused entertainment in an outdoor shopping environment.

Halloween Fun Without the Scares

Candy Crawl is designed as a family-friendly alternative to the darker, scarier side of Halloween.

Children can visit participating businesses and decorated booths to collect candy and treats while families explore activities throughout the event area.

The announced attractions include crafts, games, live entertainment, a Touch-a-Truck experience, a Monster Bouncer and a haunted obstacle course described as not-so-spooky.

A scavenger hunt will add another activity for children who enjoy searching for clues and exploring their surroundings.

The event is intended for families with children of different ages, although adults should use their judgment when deciding which attractions are suitable for younger visitors.

A Special Surprise for the First 500 Children

The event listing published by Fun 4 Tampa Kids advertises complimentary treat bags and mini pumpkins for the first 500 children.

The mini pumpkins are intended for decorating, providing a creative activity alongside the candy collection.

Because quantities are limited, families interested in these giveaways may want to arrive near the beginning of the event.

Children can also bring their own trick-or-treat bags from home.

Costumes Welcome — But Not Required

Visitors are encouraged to dress for Halloween, but costumes are optional.

The organizers have announced costume contests for children, families, pets and groups.

Registration is scheduled at the Tampa Bay Moms Group and Fun 4 Tampa Kids table near the stage.

The contests provide an opportunity for families to participate together, whether they arrive dressed as superheroes, movie characters or something entirely original.

For parents of younger children, the relaxed costume policy also means nobody has to spend the morning searching for a missing mask or costume accessory just to attend.

Local Businesses Join the Celebration

Beyond candy and entertainment, Candy Crawl brings together businesses and community organizations from the Tampa Bay area.

Participating exhibitors will have opportunities to introduce their products and services to families through decorated booths, interactive games and activities.

For parents, that means the event is also a chance to discover community resources and family-oriented businesses.

The celebration benefits TBMG Cares, Inc., a nonprofit organization supporting mothers, families and the wider Tampa Bay community.

Organizers include Tampa Bay Moms Group and Fun 4 Tampa Kids, working with The Shops at Wiregrass.

Free Admission and Giveaway Registration

The event is free and open to the public.

A general admission ticket is not required to participate in Candy Crawl.

However, organizers have offered a separate Eventbrite registration for visitors interested in entering prize giveaways.

Families should not confuse that optional giveaway registration with an admission requirement.

The event organizer also lists free parking at The Shops at Wiregrass.

A Sunday Outing in the Heart of Wesley Chapel

Located near the intersection of State Road 56 and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard, The Shops at Wiregrass is one of Wesley Chapel's best-known shopping and gathering destinations.

Its pedestrian-oriented Paseo Drive provides an outdoor setting for community events, seasonal celebrations and family activities.

Candy Crawl gives families another reason to visit the area beyond regular shopping.

For children, the afternoon offers a chance to enjoy Halloween traditions in a public community setting. For local businesses and community groups, it creates opportunities to meet residents face-to-face.

And for parents looking for an activity before the school week begins, the event offers a relatively short, three-hour outing with several attractions in one location.

A Change Families Should Know About

Some earlier event listings continue to show the original October 10 date or a 10 a.m. start time.

However, The Shops at Wiregrass's official event page now confirms Sunday, October 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Families should follow the updated schedule when planning their visit.
